To our members,
Day Air Credit Union began serving the Miami Valley in 1945 when 26 employees of the United States Air Force Depot – Gentile Station (later known as DESC); came together to help each other improve their financial well-being. This humble beginning and the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People” fueled Day Air’s formation. As your credit union, our focus is always on providing you with a better banking experience.
This past year we solidified this commitment to you by making “a better banking experience” the official tagline of your credit union. We pride ourselves on removing barriers, solving problems, and creating opportunities to help you enhance your financial well-being. At no other time in history has this been more important than right now, as our members and communities face the challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our strength enabled us to innovate and assist members and businesses impacted by COVID-19, including payment relief assistance, deferred payment options, special interest-free loans, and more for members and businesses.
Day Air’s overall strength and stability fosters an opportunity to invest and return profits to our members and communities. We ended 2020 with over 46,000 members and nearly $525 million in assets. Our work this past year ensures that Day Air remains in a strong financial position to help support our associates, members and communities.
Looking back, a few of the many examples of how we returned profits to our members in 2020 include:
Providing more than $5.3 million in direct financial benefit to members through fewer fees and better rates than other financial institutions. That meant an extra $254 in the wallet of each Day Air member household.
Originating more than $100 million in mortgages for members, including over $10 million in mortgages to low-income households.
Waiving more than $140,000 in fees and donating over $20,000 to members impacted by COVID-19.
Giving more than $65,000 in support of community organizations
Teaching over 75 free financial education classes to groups, schools and organizations annually.
Making over 7,000 loans totaling almost $225 million to members and ranking as the 3rd highest vehicle lending source in the Miami Valley.
Our membership is a reflection of the great communities that make up the Miami Valley. From students opening their first savings accounts to small business owners getting personalized service, fewer fees, and local support. Our decisions are guided by a deep caring of our members, their communities and our mission to enhance your financial well-being.
Together we will make it through these very challenging times and be stronger for it. We appreciate your commitment to Day Air, and we promise to continue providing you with a better banking experience.
