Kettering, Ohio, – Day Air Credit Union, partnered with ARDR Allies to provide Financial Education, resources, and support for a series of ‘Train the Trainer’ Financial Success programs. These Financial Success programs provided volunteers identified by the ARDR Allies with the tools needed to facilitate small group sessions with their clients to develop financial understanding.
Day Air Credit Union hosted three 2-hour training sessions in which volunteers were trained to lead group financial education classes effectively. The topics covered in the training sessions included; goal setting and budgeting, opening and maintaining checkings and savings accounts, and building credit.
“On behalf of ARDR ALLIES /HOPE CENTER, we are happy to partner with Day Air Credit Union to train our volunteers who will be helping others with banking. We’re looking forward to using the skills we learned and helping our fellow New Americans to thrive in this country,” said Laurent Mubunyi, President of the Board of ARDR Allies.
“It is not always easy for immigrants and refugees coming to the United States from different cultural backgrounds to understand the ins and outs of our financial system. The initiative by Day Air Credit Union and ARDR Allies to collaborate and help newcomers to the Dayton area navigate financial understanding in their new homeland is important,” remarked Jeannette Horwitz, Welcome Dayton Coordinator for the City of Dayton. “I was impressed by the interactive nature of the session on “Credit’ I had the opportunity to attend, where attendees had a chance to understand what credit is and why it is so important in the U.S., I’d love to see more organizations partner together on training opportunities like this in the future.”
