Day Air Credit Union partnered with Oasis House to sponsor the second annual Human Trafficking Conference on National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at the Dayton Masonic Center. The Human Trafficking Conference was held to educate and inform key stakeholders, such as public servants, police, first responders, healthcare professionals, and the public in general, about human trafficking.
“This is the largest educational event in Southwest Ohio to support victims and survivors of human trafficking”, stated Glenda Hoagland, Development Director, Board Vice Chair. “Hundreds of women alone in the Miami Valley, find themselves victims of human trafficking. Many are the survivors of childhood and adolescent sexual abuse. A common misconception is that these women are doing it of their own free will. It may look like that at first glance, but more times than not there is force, fraud or coercion compelling them into the industry and preventing them from exiting safely. Experience shows once they are out, they need an abundance of caring support from organizations like Oasis House to guide them as they work toward good health, wellness, and self-sufficiency.”
