If you were able to stop by any of our branches on Friday, October 26, you had the pleasure of seeing our associates reliving their childhood and getting into the Halloween spirit by not only dressing up in costume, but also decorating their department. Hopefully it wasn’t too alarming if you were served by Elvis, the Queen of Hearts or one of the other many characters that were roaming Day Air that day. For the past several years, Day Air has had an annual Halloween decorating and costume contest between all of our departments and branches. The stakes are quite high with this contest. First, the department that comes in first place wins the coveted Golden Pumpkin Award. But even more important than that, the winning department wins bragging rights for the next 12 months!
Leading up to Halloween all departments become very secretive with each other, not wanting to give any clues as to what their theme is for the year. The competition gets quite furious and secret Pinterest boards are opened by many. Some may feel that way too much effort goes into something as silly as a Halloween contest, but below is what we have seen come out of this annual contest:
- Great teamwork
- Amazing creativity
- High morale
- Lots of laughter
- Great memories made
- And so much more!
All these outcomes lead to building a great team that can better serve our members. Our annual Halloween contest is just one example of how we build the great culture we have at Day Air. As usual, it was a fun day and the creativity showed by all departments was off the charts!
But as we all know, there can only be one winner. And this year the Golden Pumpkin goes to our Wilmington Pike Branch who rocked the 80’s! Visit our Facebook to see what everyone else did and witness all the fun we had! Happy Halloween!
